The Bicentennial Bridge over the St. Joseph River will not be raised to masted vessels after the Michigan Department of Transportation discovered an issue during a recent inspection.

Repair work will begin next week on the Bicentennial Bridge, resulting in travel restrictions for cars and boats, the Michigan Department of Transportation announced Friday.

Work on the I-94 Business Loop bascule bridge, which connects traffic over the St. Joseph River, will start at 8 a.m. Monday. The work is expected to be finished by 5 p.m. Wednesday.
